10 Keto Supplements for Ketogenic Dieters to help meet macros, boost immunity and reduce "Keto Flu" symptoms.

I’ve been following the Keto Diet for about 6 weeks now and I’ve accumulated a collection of supplements along the way. I try and have a wide variety of Keto friendly foods to naturally consume the vitamins/minerals/macros but find that as the diet is so restrictive, the need to supplement crops up for various reasons.

Before I even begin, I’m going to add the disclaimer that PLEASE speak with your chosen health professional who can prescribe you supplements. This post is meant for informational purposes and should not be construed as medical advice. Do your own research and then consult with your health professional about supplements for your own Keto Diet.

I don’t take all of these supplements every day. Some days I take none and others maybe two to three, depending on how I feel and what’s going on.

Please watch the video down below for more information about each of the Keto Supplements that I take, for now though, here’s a brief overview:

MCT Oil & Coconut Oil

You may find that you need to supplement your macros to help keep your % in check. Supplementing healthy fats is easy with either MCT Oil or Coconut Oil.

Add a half a teaspoon to your coffee or smoothie or (if you’re brave) drink it by the spoonful.

Be warned though – start small with MCT Oil and Coconut Oil. It’s been known to cause bloating/gas. Build up to an amount which fits your macros and you are comfortable with.

Protein Powder

Ideally consume protein from natural sources, but you may find from time to time that you need to supplement to meet your Protein goals.

You may also find it easier to drink your protein in a smoothie/shake than prepare a meal, so it’s great for a protein hit when you’re pressed for time.

Be very picky when choosing your protein powder. Try and avoid brands with added ingredients, sugars and ingredients which you can’t pronounce. Try and find a simple protein powder made from just protein.

Vitamin D, Probiotic & Vitamin C

These supplements I had been taking prior to starting Keto and I’m finding that I rely more on them now that I’m on the Keto Diet.

When colds are around the house I make sure I keep my Probiotic and Vitamin C levels up.

When the weather is grey and I can’t get outside to get natural sunshine I supplement with Vitamin D.

Psyllium Husk

A teaspoon or so in a smoothie will help elevate your fiber intake and possibly even help keep you (ahem) regular.

Lite Salt, Stock Cubes & Magnesium Supplement

Especially in the beginning you may find supplementing your electrolytes helps reduce or even eliminate the dreaded “Keto Flu” symptoms when your body is adjusting to the Keto Way of eating.

You may find that switching to lite salt (which is 50% Sodium and 50% Potassium) helps, and/or supplementing with magnesium.

My natural solution is to drink a cup of vegetable stock which is incredibly high in sodium. (And tastes delicious too!)

So, those are my Keto Supplements which I turn to to keep my body balanced. Below you’ll find the video where I talk you through the supplements in more detail. Remember – consult with your health practitioner before starting a supplement regime.
