Keto Diet Results

Today I’m sharing my experience of 4 months of following the Ketogenic Diet. Which is a low carb, high fat diet.

The experience, as you’ll see, has been an overwhelmingly positive one. Here are some of my thoughts at the 4 month mark:

Down ANOTHER Dress Size

The above two photos in the black dress may only be a few weeks apart, but there’s a whole dress size between them. I found the dress at GAP, tried it on and couldn’t decide whether to get it or not. So, I thought about it for a few weeks, went back in and the dress was SWIMMING on me.

I couldn’t believe I needed to actually size down! I happily bought the dress and refer to the incident when I’m not feeling my greatest. The scale may move frustratingly slowly, but I’m moving down in dress sizes!

Do I Miss Carbs?

I get this question a lot, or rather when I mention the diet that I’m following to others, the usual response is “I could never do that, I’d miss carbs WAY too much.” And I’d known myself to say that too in my pre-keto days.

I just couldn’t imagine a life without glorious carbs in every meal, snack and dessert. After 4 months of follwing a low carb way of life, I can honestly say that I don’t miss carbs. I LOVE this way of eating. I feel incredible and have no desire to go back to feeling the awful way I used to feel thanks to my carb loaded diet.

I’m just not tempted.

Kicking Sugar

Hand in hand with carbs is sweet, sweet sugar. My super vice. That one has been trickier. Sugar withdrawl sucked at the beginning and it took me a while to see through the haze. Upping my fat definately helped and I relied heavily on fat bombs in the beginning to help see me through.

When in the past I’d find 70% dark chocolate too bitter, I can now not only tolerate it, but I can enjoy 85% and even 90% dark chocolate too. The longer I’m on this journey, the less I’ve found my sweet cravings to be an issue and the more I can relish in the joy of pure, dark chocolate.

Before and After Pictures

Regretfully, I took very few “before” pictures, and most photos of myself pre-keto are selfies as I wanted to avoid looking at myself.

This one in the red striped top is one of my few before photos, and you’re likely to see it again on my journey as I work towards my goal weight.

Yes, I still have a way/weigh to go, but I can already see a MASSIVE difference. My waist has shrunk. I can see more shape in my body, my skin feels like it’s glowing and I just look so much healthier and happier than I did pre-keto.

Weight Loss Results

In total I have lost 12kg/26lbs and have lost a number of dresses sizes. Needless to say, I’ll be sticking to the Ketogenic Diet for months to come and look forward to sharing my progress with you.
