4 Of The Best Low Carb Protein Powder Recipes
On days where you know that you’ll struggle to meet your macro goals, protein powder is a great source of protein to help you meet your protein goals.
Here are 4 quick and easy low carb ways to use protein powder:
1. Protein Shake
Place a scoop of protein powder into a shaker and add liquid to taste from the following options:
- Milk of Choice
- Coconut Milk
You could enjoy your protein shake as is or add a flavouring or your sweetener of choice. My favourites are:
Shake your ingredients together and enjoy!
2. Protein Smoothie
Add a half a scoop to a scoop of protein powder to your smoothie of choice. My preferred protein smoothie includes:
- Almond Milk
- Cream Cheese/Mascarpone
- Small portion of frozen berries
- Sweetener to taste
- 1/2 Scoop Protein Powder
3. Protein Chia Pudding
You could add protein powder to your favourite chia pudding recipe.
Here’s a basic recipe – mix together 2 tablespoons of chia seeds, 1 Tablespoon of protein powder and 1/2 cup liquid of choice. Mix until well combined and all of the seeds are submerged in liquid.
Place into the fridge to thicken for at least half an hour, or overnight and enjoy.
You could mix through your flavouring of choice, here are some ideas:
- Frozen or Fresh Berries
- Lemon Zest/Juice
- Cacao Powder
- Coconut Flakes
4. Protein Balls
I stumbled on this recipe on Facebook in one of those captivating recipe videos. I gave the recipe a try and it’s a delicious, refreshing way to enjoy protein powder.
In a bowl, combine together:
- 1/2 Cup Coconut Flakes
- 1 Scoop Protein Powder
Grate the zest from one lemon over the combined coconut and protein powder and then stir through 2 tablespoons lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil.
Form into balls and refrigerate until solid.
