My Experience With Intermittent Fasting – Thoughts about experimenting with intermittent fasting, including my routine, what I eat & video.
My Experience With Intermittent Fasting
It wasn’t until I was a couple of months into my Keto Diet Journey that I started Intermittent Fasting.
I read up all that I could about Intermittent Fasting and spoke with my health team to decide what’s right for me.
In a nutshell, Intermittent Fasting is choosing to have an eating window, surrounded by an extended fasting period. Some fast for 12, 16, 18 and even 24 hours at a time. (Seek medical advice before commencing fasting.)
I’ll admit that I was apprehensive at first and resisted even attempting intermittent fasting for so long because I just didn’t think I could cope with fasting.
It was only when I first started experimenting with fasting that I discovered that it wasn’t nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. In fact I look forward to my fast days.
I intermittently intermittent fast – meaning that I don’t fast every day, I avoid fasting on consecutive days, rather fasting a couple of times a week.
My routine is to aim for an early dinner, finishing up at about 6pm the latest. I then fast until brunch the next day and have a massive meal at around 10am, resulting in a 16 hour fast.
Importantly, I listen to my body and if on mornings when I plan to fast I wake up hungry and don’t feel like fasting. Then I don’t. If I wake and feel energised and can easily cope with a fast, then I fast. I believe it’s important to intuitively decide when and for how long I fast and as long as I feel good while doing it, will continue to intermittent fast a couple of times a week.
