8 Month Keto Weight Loss Update

I know I say it each month, but I can’t believe how quick the time has flown. I’ve reached the 8 month milestone and am so excited to share my experience with you.

It’s been an interesting past month. I took a few weeks off Keto while away in Japan. Once back home, I popped the date of 1st May into my diary to start back strictly with Keto and that’s just what I did.

Being off Keto was not nearly as scary as I thought it would be. I  really thought that I’d start putting weight back on as soon as I even looked at carbs, but that just didn’t happen. I found myself gravitating towards Keto meals most of the time, while adding back in other carbs in moderation. So, not back to my old carb-fuelled ways of eating.

Getting back onto Keto it’s taken a while to actually find what I like to call my “carb sweet spot”. The first few days I feel that I was eating too few carbs. The scales wouldn’t move initially and then went UP! So, I decided to up my carbs and lo and behold, I’ve been losing weight consistently.

Eat More To Lose Weight?

As I’ve said time and again – with Keto there really is no one size fits all. Experiment and find what works for you. What makes you feel good. And do that!

I get frustrated at diet “gurus” suggesting that you get stricter with your diet when you’re not losing weight. For me all that does is put my body in what I believe to be starvation mode. It clings on tightly to every inch of my weight, not allowing even a gram to be lost on the scales.

As soon as I add in more food, my body relaxes and I lose weight. AGAIN, everyone is different – what works for me, might not work for you. Oh and when I talk about increasing carbs/calorie intake, I’m not talking about going carb crazy – just have a few more carbs than usual.

Weight Loss Results

In total in the 8 months I have lose 17kg/37lbs, so a kilo in the past month. This Keto Weight Loss Journey is a marathon, not a sprint. Losing a kilo or so a month is fine by me. I’m enjoying the process tremendously.

It doesn’t phase me how long it takes to get to my so called “goal weight”.

I always get emotional when I put together the before and after photos for the month. And it’s even more so as I progress month to month.

I don’t even recognise myself in the before picture, yet I haven’t seen the day to day change.

In the past month my shape really seems to have changed. All of a sudden my stomach has flattened and I have an hourglass shape that wasn’t there before.

Soon I’m going to have to shop for a whole new wardrobe. My Husband jokes that sometimes it looks like a child in grown ups clothing – it’s so oversized and badly fitted!

In fact the other day while getting out of bed my pyjama bottoms fell off!! They were just so loose that they couldn’t stay up any longer. (Thankfully it was pyjamas and at home – not clothing out and about!)
