Healthy Paleo Sweet Potato Mash Recipe

This Sweet Potato Mash Recipe is super simple to make and really delicious. Sometimes it’s the simplest dishes which are the most nourishing.

It’s tricky to give volumes because it depends on how many people you are feeding. For the four of us I find 2 medium sweet potatoes is the perfect amount, if you’re feeding a smaller of larger crowd then adjust accordingly.

To make Sweet Potato Mash peel and chop your sweet potato into even sized pieces so they cook through at the same time.

Place the prepared sweet potatoes into a large saucepan, cover with water and add a pinch of salt.

Bring up to the boil and then simmer until the sweet potatoes are easily mashable.

Drain and then mash with your favourite potato masher. (Find a potato masher that’s just right for you!)

You can add in a quarter of a cup of milk (regular or a dairy free alternative) to make the mash creamier or 1-2 tablespoons of coconut oil or butter to make it richer.

The sweet potato mash can be seasoned with your choice of sea salt, pepper, garlic or even cinnamon – depending on your tastes.

The sweet potato mash can be used in place of regular mashed potatoes, as a topping for cottage or shepherd’s pie or just as a delicious side dish.

Since filming the above tutorial I made a trip to IKEA and bought a new potato masher and other kitchen goodies. I filmed an IKEA Haul which you can see here:
